This is a two part follow-up to the 2006 remake of the Jerome K. Jerome classic Three Men in a Boat. Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O'Briain and Rory McGrath are sailing from Tower Bridge to the Isle of Wight in Griff's classic 45ft bermudan sloop yacht the Undina. Once at the Isle of Wight, they take place in a race against Undina's sister yacht Josephine (nee. Jane Dore IV). The problem is that although Griff is a keen sailor, Dara and Rory have never sailed before, and no one is quite sure if Griff has the patience to teach them.
In this first programme the sailing lessons don't go well. They soon run aground, nearly ram a Thames sailing barge, and end up in a storm in the channel. It doesn't look like they'll even make it to the Isle of Wight let alone win a race. By the time they get to
Brighton, tempers are frayed. Dara and Rory soon realise that by selling Griff's cramped classic yacht they could buy three spacious and luxurious modern yachts.
In the second part and as race day looms Griff realises that teaching Rory and Dara to sail is going to be a lot more difficult thatn he first thought. He goes in search of inspiration onboard Nelson's Flagship HMS Victory.
Dara has a go on the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal and realises steering a 20 thousand tonne ship is a lot easier than handling Griff's 50 footer. Meanwhile Rory stages a mutiny with unexpected results for the yacht's crew. The Rolling Stones do their best to reunite the team, but will it be enough for them to pull it together and win the race?
